TomTom Traffic information

TomTom announced an online traffic information channel for its navigator devices. The One XL HD Traffic service provides continuously updated traffic information based on mobile phone tracking data and third party providers (could this be GPS tracking data based?).

Interesting service, any angle on the quality?

I recently purchased a One XL from Best Buy - in large part because they said that this (subscription) service was available for a city that I drive in. I can’t find anything about the service being available in the US, and I can’t find a phone number for Tom Tom. The local BestBuy has given me two phone numbers for Tom Tom, so far, and both were incorrect. The online materials suggest that something is available in the US, and I even heard a radio ad that mentioned it, but can’t find where it’s described in detail or where to order the service.

This GPS appears to be a good product, but the company sure doesn’t have it together when it comes to support and information!

I was also looking at this and on the engadget website they say it’s only available in the Netherlands and UK in first half of 2008 (so i guess it’s available now) it seems like a great service as I plan to travel a little in 2009 across Europe.
